Lambretta top chain guide: MBD (43 Euros) - Tino Sacchi/Cambridge (17 euros) - AF @ LTH (25 euros) - SR (11 Euros):

mrb0006.jpgquickslip-top.jpgKettenspanner-AF-Alu-Lambretta_b2.png3_31a_UpperChainGuideNylon_.jpg

Etc. MBD says: "This MBD design is probably Mark's most copied invention, invented way back in 1987 and is probably the most copied part ever made for a Lambretta." But other people say they did it before MBD - so MBD copied them or a motorbike anyway, no?

All European companies.

We do a nylon version too. (5 euros.)

There are more.

All scooter companies are making variations on the same parts. All manufacturers complain and want a monopoly and more profit, but scooterists around the world benefit from competition: better choice, better quality, better prices.

Lambretta tall 5-6 clutch spider

Foxhat (164 euros) - MBD (163 euros) - Cambridge (119 euros) - Tino Sacchi @ SCK (126 euros).

Foxhat claims MBD copied him. Others say they did it before.

LAMBO01311.jpgmrb0757_01.jpgmrb0757_02.jpgclutchbell.jpg8469189382616032.jpg

All European companies. Probably some more.

We also make a version (20 euros!):

In engineering a part like this there are only so many ways to skin a cat. They can't help but be similar.

All scooter companies are making variations on the same parts. All manufacturers complain and want a monopoly and more profit, but scooterists around the world benefit from competition: better choice, better quality, better prices.

quality never comes cheap like our british friends like to say. the quality of the products aside, one massive differnce is the customer care. yours is ZERO! as soon as a problem occures you are away or it is te customers fault.

instead you are twisting my melon with your boring posts!

Sometimes price matters, but often price has nothing at all to do with quality.

Look at the one chain guide above - 43 euros is crazy! The one for 5 euros is better quality! Or the clutch spider 140 euros vs 20 euros (with good reviews) both work the same in a 5-plate set up! Same for many Lambretta parts where the Italian version is overpriced and often poor quality.

About service, we only listen to what real ScootRS customers say, not forum warriors attacking people. That has let us grow to 50 people at ScootRS, which would be impossible with poor parts/service.

>>twisting my melon with your boring posts!

Just stop reading them then? Facts and friendly discussion are always boring. ;-)

Cheers.

It really does suck if some people haven't checked around and are paying 7 or 8 times the price (!!!) for the same or lower quality.

(Off-topic post above: if you mean our Die Fenster für die Disc Brake, no complaints and they fit better than Italian ones on a Lambretta inboard disc brake. With our Lambretta "Gummis für die Trittleisten", no complaints ever. Send in an email if you mean us!)

Lambretta tubeless rims

Original ScootRS Lambretta tubeless rim stainless steel followed by MBD/SCK prototype "copy":

rim_tubeless_lam_chrome.jpgfirst%20view%2004.JPG

MBD/SCK said they can make it if they want, doesn't matter if we're unhappy about it.

Original SIP alloy followed by AF Rayspeed "copy":

Rim+SIP+for+LAMBRETTA+125.jpgth.08d31aae92.jpg

AF Rayspeed said it was OK to copy SIP because they paid for their own tooling - as though that means anything! - and (wrongly) said SIP aren't doing one for Lambretta: "sip aren't doing one - & although from same source the std rims are an afr design-diff part /design number . afr own the tooling."

Again, all "copies" by European companies.

If you call it "Kopien" and "Plagiatsvorwürfe" when from Asian shops, then it is the exact same with European shops. One rule for everyone.

Many more examples possible, but hopefully people can agree that all scooter companies - Asian, European, wherever - are making variations on the same parts. All manufacturers complain and want a monopoly and more profit, but scooterists around the world benefit from competition: better choice, better quality, better prices.

Cheers

We don't even have an LTH manifold, and we haven't copied an LTH manifold.

I am wondering: It would be pretty easy for you to convince the board members on here that your sentence quoted above is nothing but true:

all you have to do is post some detailed pictures of your manifold

So, why don't you?

We will when that item is for sale soon. Maybe next week. You can also see our larger one posted above.

But you will still have a problem: not even one person here has explained why all the European shops can make their versions (i.e. "Kopien") of items we and others sell - but not an Asian shop. One rule for everyone equally. Until you start saying the exact same thing about MBD, SCK, LTH, AF...

And you are still missing the bigger point: all manufacturers complain and want a monopoly and more profit, but scooterists around the world benefit from competition: better choice, better quality, better prices.

Cheers.

I am looking forward to seeing the finished product in detail.

I think we should define "copy" in this context.

  1. If a dealer has an idea for a product which does not already exist (eg reed manifold for piston ported engines), puts his thought and money into it to offer it to his customers, then everything is fine (ideal case).

  2. If, after that, other dealers grab that idea, put their own thought and money into it to make another product for the same purpose (eg reed manifold) to get a piece of the cake, then that is free market economy ("steal" the idea, but make your own product by ones own thought and ideas)

  3. And if someone is not able to put his own thought into something or does not want to, and maybe wants to spend as little money and time possible, and thus makes an identical or almost identical part (which in most cases is not as good as the original), then that is a copy. It may be okay in terms of market economy, but it is not in terms of morals.

As far as scooter dealers copying from each other, no matter where they are from, I don't care, but I judge before I buy, and so do others, too.

The AF/SIP tubeless alloy rims are exactly the same except of the logos.

AF sells them only in the UK and SIP only on the continent.

Ich möchte höflich sein und versuchen meinen Beitrag in Englisch zu verfassen...

I've just read this topic with interest until today without any comments from my side.

Maybe this comment will be kind of offtopic, however I'd like to adress it to SccotRS...

Der will provozieren.
