For my vinter project, I’m rebuilding a 1959 Sweedish Vespa Touring (VGLA1T), similar as German T4. So far the floor and struts along with the horn cap has been replaced.

-otherwise it is just surface rust!

 

I’m building it with a PK fork and a Polini221 engine with SI-carb and PIS Road 2.0.

 

I’ve kept the autolube function in the engine, so I’ll fit a PX tank with oil tank.

 

But can someone please direct me on where to cut the hole for the glas for the oil level?

Nice project!

 

I’d remove the glass of the tank though and be generous with refilling the tank based on mileage rather than modifying (destroying) the frame.

Would be a pity for this beautiful and untouched basis.

If need be use a transparent oil tube so you can check under the wing for air in the tube.

It is a fairly ok project, but not as nice as it seems...

I've already welded on new floor and front shield, as I took over a project that was given up...

The sides was also altered, as previous owner had prepared the frame for GS cowls, but given up, so I refitting the proper T4 cowls...

In addition I'm fitting a PK fork and PX221 engine, so it will not be original...

And as it is to be used as my commuting scooter, I would like to have the autolube (I'm commuting 40km every day)

 

 

So I'll start on the hole in the frame fairly soon... ;)

Naja prinzipiell hat er nicht unrecht: wozu ein Loch in den Rahmen säbeln

wenn man einfach nur das Schauglas verschließen muss 

 

Fahre ich in 2 Rollern so. Muss man eben immer mal von oben rein gucken wie viel Öl noch drin ist

Bei 1,5L Öl = 1.500km keine große Sache

 

weil's cool ist, nen Oldie mit sichtbarer Gaytrennt zu haben..

 

ich liebe es in meiner Ori TS...

 

denke nicht das es beim Te an den handwerkliche Fähigkeiten scheitern würde wenn er / wer auch immer es unsichtbar / ohne Fenster haben wollen würde... 

 

.. sonst wäre die Ursprungsfrage sicher anders gewesen..

Falls die Frage in 40 Jahren auftaucht. NEIN, die T4 gab es serienmäßig nicht mit Getrenntschmierung 

Wann kam eigentlich die Getrenntschmierung für die Vespa auf den Markt? In D war es 1984, aber für andere Märkte war die ja schon viel früher verfügbar. Schon Ende der 60er Jahre?

Meine Rally200, Baujahr 1974, gebaut für den amerikanischen Markt hat serienmässig ab Werk eine Getrenntschmierung, die seit dem klaglos funktioniert.

74 sollte auch das früheste Baujahr sein

(Rally200&TS125)

 

Aber vielleicht zaubert irgendwann jemand noch eine 73er aus dem Aluhut
