I'm restoring a 1960 VBB and ordered a chrome leghield trim from mauro pascoli; when i put it on it doesn't fit well..does anybody have experience with this?

Does it fit much better when you put the screws in and tighten them? Right now I do not dare to do this because if the trim doesn't fit afterwards and i cannot put it on i have marks from the screws in my frame..

can somebody help me please?

Hi,

I had the same problems with my Sprint.

I used a small rubber around the Legshield, that I bought in a local car parts dealer, so I couldn't scratch anything.

After i worked it up by bending it a bit, I tightened the srews. And I didn't use the srews that where enlayed. Instead I used thread-screws.

It does fit quiet good now.

can you explain how you put the rubber in? and what do you mean by thread screws?

i guess he means an "U" type rubber he put around the legshield edge under the trim. and with "thread screws" he means machine thread screws insted of the wood screws that came with the trim?

by wood screws you mean screws with a sharp point right? Machine thread scres are flat at the end?

you also can get machine thread screws in hard plastic. i think this could be a real alternative...

hmmm, yes. first cut the thread in the legshield trim with a m3 or m4 metal screw, then insert a plastic one when you fix it.
