Question about floorrails; Help!

Hi,

Im restoring my 1960 Vespa VGLA and have a question about the floorails..The original ones are a bit scratched and the ends are widened with a pair of pliers to fit the endpieces in. Some of them have cracks in the aluminium because of this. I found out it is pretty hard to find a set of good quality aftermarket rails that fit my model so I'm thinking about fxing up the old ones; does anyone know if it is possible to weld up the cracks in the alu rails? Does anybody have experince with this?

as i know also stoffi and sip sell the endpieces alone without the rails. maybe this is cheaper to buy only some new endpieces instead of looking for a company for welding and do a lot of work for a proper finishing.

i think it would be the best to contact stoffi in this case because he is a specialist for oldie parts. sometimes he also have used parts to sell, they only need to be polished.
