  1. Hi from the UK, Has anyone had success fitting the BGM 177 kit to a Bajaj 3-port casing? I am aware of the issue of gasket surface mentioned here: https://en.blog.scooter-center.com/177cc-cylinder-for-2-channel-and-3-channel-engines/ I was hoping to use a 60mm stroke crankshaft and the 1.5mm base packer from Pinasco 2-port, and then just cut the 3rd port into the gasket. I realize that some of the BGM ports will be partially obscured but hopefully the motor will still make a decent amount of power! Thanks, Roger
  2. My main issue was that I could not find the parts to replace on my 6-pole 12v stator, and the CDI/coils have died in the past so for me it's definitely not been perfect. The Pinasco gives me: Better build quality, magnets that are sealed behind a plate so they can't explode at high revs 1.6kg flywheel for slightly better revving ability to use nice flytech holder tool and normal Piaggio flywheel puller instead of the odd Bajaj type with the weird thread pitch DC output if I ever want to fit a battery for Sat Nav or phone charge. Variable ignition so better overall power/cooling It looks neater without the separate coil/CDI :) Easy to replace the parts should I need to in the future! The fan is supposed to cool 20% better (may just be sales talk though!) Cheers, Rog
  3. I fitted the Pinasco Flytech ignition to my 1999 Chetak, it is a very easy conversion and the engine now runs like a dream!
  4. Hello, I have a 1999 Chetak Classic, the engine has been rebuilt with 150cc LML barrel and Mazzuchelli crank but I still have problems with the ignition and components are very hard to find so I was hoping to convert to the Pinasco Flytech - would this be an easy conversion? My ignition is already 12v with indicators so I was hoping it would be easy to change. https://www.officinatonazzo.it/readycontent/files/istruzioni-accensione-vespa-pinasco-flytech.pdf
  5. Hello, I am looking for a new stator for my 1999 Bajaj Chetak, it seems to be an unusual type and uses different components compared to most Bajaj stators that are available. It uses the type of pickup on the right, does anyone know where I may find parts? If I cannot find parts then I was thinking about changing to a Pinasco Flytech, is this and easy conversion with the original Bajaj wiring loom? many thanks, Roger
  6. It is totally flat like the Lusso type and just has the raised locating slot on one side. I have owned the scooter from new and this is the first time the engine has been apart, it's definitely different to all the usual Vespa type I see, I have emailed an Indian supplier to try and get hold of one, cheers, Rog
  7. Are you 100% certain about the Lusso cruciform? See the images, the Bajaj cruciform is on the left and Lusso on the right. if you fit the Lusso type to the plunger there is a gap where the Bajaj type slot would fit. cheers, Rog
  8. No problem :) I have a question, now the engine is apart I thought it would be a good idea to change the gear cruciform. I notice that the Bajaj cruciform is like a hybrid of the flat PX EFL type, but still with the slot on one side! Are these unique to Bajaj (and other Indian derivatives)? This is the type I have ordered from eBay but I wondered if an equivalent Italian/Vespa type exists? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Enfield-County-Vespa-Gearbox-Selector-Cruciform-For-Old-Vespa-/112522779974?hash=item1a32e15d46:g:Dt8AAOSwWE9Zj5Mc Thanks, Roger
  9. Thanks for the advice chaps, I was trying to go for the cheapest option which is why I went for the LML 5-port, I will see how the ports line-up on the casing, I have heard many people use this barrel on 3-port Piaggio casings. If the ports on the barrel are miles too big then I will return it and get the DR kit instead. I've attached a PDF file of a couple of articles from Scootering magazine where they fitted the DR kit and reviewed the Chetak ;) Cheers, Rog 20160224123158688.pdf
  10. Hi, please forgive me speaking English, my name is Roger and I live in the UK. I have a 1999 Bajaj Chetak which I have owned since my 17th birthday! I'm 34 now, it's the 125cc 3-port engine and I have used as a daily rider. Recently the scooter started cutting out when the engine was warm, I changed the ignition coil, CDI, carb, fuel tap, spark plug, HT lead + cap, but still the problem persists. I decided that it was time to replace the bearings/seals anyway and I have started disassembling the engine, the piston+rings look worn and the correct 54mm piston seems to be impossible to find so I decided to fit the following 57mm stroke Mazzy crank LML 5-port 150cc barrel SIP Road 2 exhaust Has anyone else tried this configuration? Do you think the original gearing will be ok for the 150cc barrel? Also, the stator plate is fixed, will the timing be ok? Also, has anyone else had the same symptoms of engine cutting out when warm? Thanks, Rog
