220 PiaggiOlinAsco .... in english!

hi (sorry if my english is not so good...)

the name is not so coll....but:

-it's an original Piaggio 200 cilinder

-polini 68mm 2-ring piston

-cilinder and piston reworked in pinasco 213 style....

so we can call it Piaggiolinasco, or PPP, or P-cube....

i've made:

-Original piaggio 200 cilinder, refinisched inlet port, outlet port enlarged to 39mm, 3-rd inlet port enlarged

onthe gasket base and on the boost port, bored to 68mm,

-Polini 2ring piston, reworked on all 3 port to work with piaggio piston-ported inlet port

-Central spark head cosa2 200, bored to 69mm, and reworked to have 1.5mm squish,50% squish area, 10:1 RC.

-60 mm crankshaft MecEur, laserwelded .

-rotary valve enlarged on the "opening side" and closed (filled with epoxy) on the "closing side" to prevent

blowback. Now the timing is: valve open 119° before TDC, and close 50° after TDC, total 169°.

-cilinder timing is 167° outlet port, 123° inlet port.

-24SI carburator, with enlarged to 2 mm max-jet tube.

-orinal exaust, after 300km ill use scorpion!

-delayer variable spark timing unit

-23/65 original gearing, with 7 spring clutch with reinforced ring.

I would like to have a tourer engine, with a lot of torque, that can run at 90 km/h for a long time.

some photoes:

ENLARGED VALVE(opening side):

FILLED VALVE, IN BLU ORIGINAL VALVE, IN RED FILLED VALVE.

ENGINE

CILINDER

PISTON

CENTRAL SPARK HEAD,

60 MM MECEUR CRANK, LASER WELDED

now i've run 100 km with this config:

-160-BE3-128

-55/160 min and 24 original valve

-original filter, with 2 hole, 1 on max jet and 1 on min jet

-spark fix time 22° and linear decreasing spark delay

-original exaust

the engine run good, it seem to have a good torque and good reliable, seem to have a good carburation, a bit too fat, but for the first kms is good.

after 3-400 km i'm going to use scorpion exaust, wich carb config can i use?wich maximum jet?

interesting thing - using a polini piston for a piaggio cylinder... :-D

from where did have you got this strange idea?

closed (filled with epoxy) on the "closing side" to prevent

this is not needed!

119° before TDC, and close 50° after TDC

this engine will miss a lot of power and driving fun

with this low inlet timing...

dont think to much about inlet valve

you should put more work on your crankshaft

it has to look like this:

080406_welle_177_max_s.jpg

flow optimized rotary valve crankshaft, "lipped crankshaft"

with crankshaft modified like this you will have

absolutly no problems with blow back or a hard setting up of the carburettor

i am building a lot of engines with timings from

maximum opened in the backward direction and original inlet valve in the front

timings are ok and rideable as far as 85 degree with a lipped crankshaft

(for example the engine of my wife with a 177 polini setup)

but this is maximum - a lot of people around here, dont dare to do so

usual aproved timing is 75°

there will be no satisfied output

if you are thrusing the input like this!

edith:

the top edge of your outlet is much to straight, horizontal

this will cause high abraison of the piston rings

honest opinion: you should use another cylinder

i'd like to optimize original 200, because 200 piston as toooo big ring, so....

i'd like to try to make a 208 "pinasco style" cylinder, cast iron...

you should put more work on your crankshaft

it has to look like this:

flow optimized rotary valve crankshaft, "lipped crankshaft"

with crankshaft modified like this you will have

very gooooood work!!

but for me it's the first time i rework a 200, and first time on longstroke...so i'd like to make things "step-by-step"

edith:

the top edge of your outlet is much to straight, horizontal

this will cause high abraison of the piston rings

is not so orizontal like it seems, is not a good photo!

honest opinion: you should use another cylinder

your right, but now i can't buy a pinasco or malossi, too expencive for me, and polini is not so reliable....

thanks!!

PS:

Any idea about scorpion carburator setting?

bye

i think you dont need a be2 caus of the harmless crankshaft

perhaps try a hlkd 150 or 140 and take bigger hd

uuups. the side ports of the cylinder are still closed? aha.
