Dear German/Austrian drivers and friends You can be assured that discussions were very long, intense and extensive in order to find the best possible compromise to *ease* the compatibility between ESC and Challenge Scootentole (CSET). It is true that a majority of driver is not going to travel to all the other serie's event, BUT both series are learning from each other ! In CSET, largeframes classes are nicely crowed (~25 in C4=K4, ~25 in C2=K3) while smallframe is just starting to take off. To the contrary, largeframe in ESC were less popular in the last few years and smallframe have 3 categories in ESC (!!). Keep in mind that to be financially sustainable for the organizer and affordable for the drivers, we need people to attend the races ! What we did this year was to try to bring the best of both series together, and the 2011-2012 rules is the results. The numbering might seems a detail to you, but for the organizers it is really a head-heck to deal with ! The 2011-2012 numbering will at least make it smooth for everyone, *especially* for Mirecourt, that is true. It is also clear to us that a/b classes should at some point merge together; we are not yet there, and the current rules is a step in this direction. Finally, very important, please carefully note that there is NO beginner class ! Do not worry, being French , we also had *many* drivers complaining about the class and numbering system changes... If you want to have a warm up and see Maniac doing (on track) negotiation/mediation , visit us during our first race of the year, as soon as April 30th !!. If you cannot, then see you in Mirecourt on the WE of the 3rd of June for the opening of the ESC season

  7. KTy antwortete auf butsch's Thema in Rennen
Semms easy to be on the top 3 in K3B However, you can count on about ~15 French K3B in Mirecourt, RnR and a bit less to some other ESC races...
  8. Alien top end is for instance a Rotax cylinder, or Cagiva Mito, or a T5 cylinder on top of a smallframe casing, etc. These are allowed in C3/C4 (in France), not in K1, K2 and K4
  9. Servus Leute, The technical rules for the ESC and for the CSET (Challenge ScootEnTole) are now out for 2011 and 2012 To clarify some recurrent questions, we came up with a small document presenting the compatibility between ESC and CSET This will be useful if you plan to come to race in France and/or if you want to understand what are our classes ! NOTE: Mirecourt (ESC French GP) is part of the 2011 ESC calendar; ESC classes will be used ! In English: http://scootentole.org/CS/Reglements/Equivalence/indexEN.html
  10. KTy antwortete auf hell n back's Thema in Rennen
Again, don't get it wrong, "A" is not for pro-only and "B" is not for beginer-only. They just have different technical restrictions. Actually, I find it sad that some people believe a beginer should not be able to start in class XX because he never raced in this class. A beginer can be much "cleaner" on the track compared to an experience driver, and I am sure we all have some good example in mind
  11. KTy antwortete auf hell n back's Thema in Rennen
Please Mike, let's stop the misinformation/misunderstanding here ! These two persons were driving in France in C1 = Fun Klass, they were NOT driving in C2S (=K5B) (the second one had borrowed the scooter from her friend). In France, it is mandatory in all "racing classes" to wear adequate racing protections. The label "Tourist" for K3B and K5B is a bit misleading. From our experience, when K3B French drivers come to ESC, you can expect them to be as fast if not faster than the ESC guys; This class was packed with 35 drivers at our last race, not a single race incident over the 6 (SIX) sessions, and some very impressive lap time with largeframes ! As for K5B drivers, you will find all different kind of levels, like in K5A, no need to be worried about that... It is a chance that we found a way to have ESC and CSET (Challenge SCootentole) compatible, let's see how things unfold. But keep in mind, even though it was mentioned K3B and K5B were "tourist" class, they are not, they are just less restricted technically, thus making it easier for people to build a new race scooter.
  12. Thank you for coming, it was indeed a great WE, with loads of action on the track and sweet celebration on the campsite afterwards; Maniac is fast, but he is no schnaps drinker I was not so fast, but I really enjoyed and improved my technics... 17. Try changing the spark plug first ! I had once the problem... it was it !
  18. After more than 3 years I can tell you for sure that if you have a standard Vespa/Lambretta ignition, you will not have more than ~180VAC between green and white (ground). So it means that the Spark Magnifier will work. One additional information; it could be that some chinese copy of the Ducati CDI does not work with the SM because it has different internal component ! As far as I know, nobody ever destroyed its CDI with the Spark Magnifier... Build it yourself and try it :)
