What about an ESC race in France ?
Next year, in 2007 certainly in the summer... the date is not fixed yet. It's organized by the Celtic Scooter Club. Classes are made depending of number of inscriptions... the two past years, there were 3 classes : - original old scoots (acma,...) - smallframes (original and tuned) - largeframes (original and tuned) it's not purposed as a competition, but there are some nices scooters (KTy's one, Kanabeach, ...) and the level is not too bad. It would be great if some of you come and race with us... of course, we can help you for the travel's logistic In France there are not many event like this, it's a damage, some of us want it to change but we are not enough... if organizers know others peoples want to come, maybe it will stimulate them...

thanks, do you have a web link please ? anyhow, it would be great to see you all in France at the "Circuit Mistral" but where is my f...ing smallframe...

What about an ESC race in France ?
Hello everybody , It's funny, we have exactly the same discussion actually on our side I'd like to come playing with you in one event... but I live in the south of the south of the France and I must choose If you could only come in one race in Germany, which one would you choose ? and what is the class the most disputed ? I've the winter to prepare my small or large frame according to your response.

New exhaust ?
hello, sorry for the tests, but I didn't do it today... I've broken my leg past week and I can't put my scoot outside my home ( maybe in the middle of next week... I've also taken quotations of my curley, I'll put it rapidly on the web to compare

yeah ! I'm proud to announce you that my scoot finally works !!! I've solved the most of my problems... now my cylinder does not heat too much anymore. I've done 2 things for this : - I've modified my needle jet (cause I've not found another one enough rapidly), then my mixture is richer in the first part of the acceleration... I have a Bleed serie modified to a Primary... - I've changed my ignition captor. it was broken, that's why my engine do not take high revs... I was in error to think my main jet was too big... I've still some settings to modify to run better but it's not too bad now. Saturday, there was a race in the south of France, organized by the Celtic Scooter Club, onto a karting circuit... I won the race (smallframes tuned) let's see how it feel... (1,4mo) Thanks to all for yours advice, It has helped me I'll change my piston rapidly...

yes, a friend of mine loaned me his 30 PHB last week. I wanted to try another carb to be sure, or not, of mine... for the story, he just bought a 210 complete motor which was still in his car... I'd just have to take parts I needed :grins: that the day i'd installed the spacer beetwen the head and the cylinder... (so the squish clearance was about 2,2mm) I know, it's better to do only one test at the same time, but it's due to the occasion... we puted the needle the higher we can to be sure the mixture was rich, but we had only one main jet, rather poor. I've tried 20/17/14 ignition timing... the result was not better than with my mikuni... same problem occurs, in low speed, always this sensation that the cylinder 'swallow' too much air... sensation guaranteed because this day the engine seized... but, it's true, we haden't enough jets to be really sure to have a good carburation... it's that day I tried too other petals (malossi fiberglass). I thought that mine were perhaps damaged... but at theses revs, no real effect... ignition timing had an effect... towards 20°, reprises were better (i think it's due to the low compression at this moment...) but when the engine seized it was near 17.... the engine is disassembled, if you want to see something in particular, I can take a photo...

first, thanks to everybody to share its experience in English . that helps me enormously... to summarize, before begin again my tests, I must : - increase squish clearance to 1,2mm - put 17 degrees to the advance - find a richer needle and to buy main jets until 300... ( and change my piston as soon as possible ) - try another ignition ( i've already forgotten it ) other ideas on the origin of my problem ? others questions : - do you put oil on Ramair air filters ? - do/can I modify engine cover to have better cooling ?

you're certainly right I think I've forgotten the curve of the piston... :grins: ok, I've to compare them to the 5DP39 to know which is richer. if somebody could help me...

@Olli ETS : yes, my carb is also called VM28 by mikuni there are only original parts in my carb exept main(180->250) and idle(15->30) jet

@jannek : no, i've not modified the head... wow, i've to learn better mathematics... I've calculated only 11,5:1 with this setting when I tried a 270 (the bigger i had at this moment in my pocket), the engine knocked, do not get high revs... but you're right, i've tried it only with the 0,7mm clearance, my second time bomb... :grins: I'll retry to put a bigger main jet when I'll have the good squish clearance... Luccio is true, it's not quite easy to find another needle here. French shop are provided by Bihr Racing, but nobody can help me to find the product reference of another needle/jet for my carb... I've a 5DP39, do you know what else can I use ? ( less lean in the begining part of the acceleration )

no, i've not been on the Dyno with this setup... I can't go so far from my garage for the moment :grins: what is strange to me is that the engine do not heat at all and do not seem to such too much air on the stand boot...

don't worry with your english, mine is not very good too :grins: the temperature conditions for the test : here for the moment the weather is dry, 20°c... I've HP4 fans on my lightened PK flywheel ( less powerfull than PK original ones ) I've always try it without the engine door, exactly as you can see in the pics below and a Proma flywheel cover... do somebody have used it ? I don't know if it is good ? the speed for the test is 40/50 km/h I think, no more, I do not have a tacho... the road is hilly all arround my house...

no, i've not yet tried another ignition..., but now I've a P200 engine on my VLA1T, I will take it on it :grins: maybe you're right, we'll see I'll try it this week-end... and what ignition timing do advise to me ? 17 degrees are specified by Malossi with original cylinder/head, but with more compression ( and heightened port timing ) do you think I've to reduce to 14/15 ?
