Didn´t acutally use a Polini box myself but first of all you have to use something like this because of the different diameter of the exhaust in the barrel and the downpipe of the Polini box. Mostly no need to reangle the downpipe.

The mount facing to the frontwheel has to be removed because the GS uses a regular hex screw to hold the box not like the PX leading a bolt through the motormount and the two boxmounts to tighten it with a nut.

    :-)

    Thanks for the input!

The outlet thingie from Grand Sport I have, so then I might try the Polini box.

I have a S&S pipe von the Polini 210 with timings 120 transfer and 170 outlet timing. After peak the revs are cut off, I guess it would be good to increase the outlet to about 178 degree.

The outlet window is widened to about 64 percent, what gave a good extra power all over the range.

Thanks! Thats very good info to have.

Depend on the pipe. S&S made some for low durations. I guess u have one of these. If yes. Try to get to a transfer duration of low 120's... 122, 125...

But the S&S likes a wider exhaust. The Polini comes with a pretty small exhaust window.. work needed there...

Thanks for the input on durations and porting. And the link to the gearing kit!

A taller primary gear for the Cosa type clutch is easy to find:

Primary gears 23/62 f.e. but there are more versions available.

To set up the polini with a thicker gasket for the cylinder head is not too easy but will work with a GS positon.

To make the polini kit work with the S&s exhaust you gave to match timings anyway.

Are you familiar with the calculation if the transfer and exhaust durations?

    Thanks for the input!

The link in your post seems to lead to something else than gearing..?

A friend of mine will take care of the porting. He is better than me when it comes to those things.

What port timings will be correct for the S&S exhaust, do you think?

    Thanks,

    Stein

  5. Seeking advice before converting from old Malossi 210 to Polini 221.

Have S&S 62,5mm crank, casings optimised for this crank and Malossi 210.

S&S reed inlet. 28mm keihin. Also have available 33mm keihin. Think 28mm is the better to use?

Standard Lusso 200 gearing with T5 fourth gear.

S&S silent exhaust for Malossi 210.

I will optimise casings for Polini 221 cylinder and use a GS piston.

Seeking advice on what gaskets to use on top/bottom of cylinder (someone told me a thicker than standard gasket on top is not possible on this kit??) with this setup with 62,5mm crank.

Also seeking advice on gearing. I have a cosa style clutch so since the Worb5 ultra long gearing is quite expensive, I am thinking of using a 24t clutch center and 65 or 64t primary gear. Any thoughts about this?

Thanks in advance for any input from anyone who have experience with this!

  8. Ok guys, thanks for all the feedback and suggestions!

I will put on the original fuel tap, never had a good feeling about the SIP one anyway (have driven thousands of kms for more than 10 years on my 28 hp 210 with standard fuel tap, so should be good enough With a standard one on a mildly tuned T5 too).

Will search casings for cracks, check my closing of the premix hole, check the seal surfaces and do a test on the carb needle.

I am glad the scoot didnt turn into a burning inferno since I actually drowe it minutes prior to finding all the fuel in the gearbox, and yes, cleanest casings I have ever seen.

  9. Thank you very much sammba for taking the time to reply to me!!

I will take a closer look at the casings just to be sure there are no cracks.

Also I did not use any extra sealant, only the paper gasket, but it might have been a too thin version, and also what you write about gasket out of possition makes sense. I will check further.

I will also check the float needle in the ways you suggest.

    Thanks again,

    Stein

  10. Hello!

I just found 1 1/2 litre of petrol in my gearbox..!!

Have any of you experienced something like this and know the cure?

    Here the facts:

    -Newly rebuild motor.

    -T5 autolube motor.

-T5 original SI carburettor for autolube, but autolube is disconnected and closed by removing small gear by clutch, axle and closing oil tube inside carb housing. Oil channel in carb housing closed With glue.

    -New float needle.

    -Original valve inlet.

-SIP fastflow fuel tap. Seems to Close/open correctly.

Scooter have been hard to start and flows over. Have not managed to drive for more than 5-600 meters before it dies. It smells of petrol and it seems to be overflowing in some way.

I first discovered that fuel was leaking out from  mixer screw hole on the carb housing and whole top of carb was wet. I changed all gaskets and it seemed to be leaking much less, but strangely it was difficult to remove all leaking. Due to fastflow fuel tap, perhaps?

Have tested for leaks with letting fuel tap stay both on and off overnight. Sometimes carb top have been dry, sometimes wet.

Fuel have also been dripping from one of the T5 exhaust bolts, and I pressumed fuel was following the fuel line or so, but after checking I saw that connection of fuel tap to tank and fuel hose to fuel tap is tight and dry.

It was wet of petrol on top of the gears schalter box, and I was more than supprised when I removed the box and petrol was flowing out.

The petrol inside filled up 2 wine bottles!

I assumed that it was via a damaged metal oil seal by the crank that the petrol found its way to the gearbox, but to my supprice when separating the motor yesterday, all seals looked to be like they should and I see no cracks in the casings.

So, before I start pressure testing or throwing the casings away, I want to ask if anyone of you might know what is happening.

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards from Norway,

    Stein
