MMB revcounter

Hello

Sorry for speaking english.

But I'm looking for someone who has experience with the MMB revcounter sold actually by germanshop

What can you say about the reading at low revs ?

How does it connect ? where it takes the spark-impulsion ?

Yes, I need translation :-D

For me "12VDC" means 12v with a battery

but it's also written "10,8-15 V", so it can't be DC, but AC, or am I wrong ?

What I don't understand is if it's posible to connect it to a PX-Cdi-coil ?

Or a separate cdi and coil is needed ? I don't see how to connect to the "+" on a PX cdi-coil !

Olli ETS, are you using one ?

No, I don't use one of these rev counters, sorry.

12VDC = 12V battery/ rectifier voltage

10.8- 15V= This means to my opinion that the voltage output can vary between 10.8- 15V to allow a correct function.

The rec counters will work with PX/ PK electronic ignition systems as shown in there manual (i= 3:1; Vespa Roller).

On the rear you have on the left 2 little switches (DIP Schalter), set them like shown at

Manual Montageanleitung einstellbarer elektronischer Drehzahlmesser - 48 mm (EEDM) to i= 3:1 (page 2, in the middle, below the wiring drawing).

On the right you have 5 colored cable.

1. orange --> background light,

2. red --> power for the function,

3. black --> mass,

4. green --> if you use a positiv wave,

5. white --> if you use a negative wave.

Sorry for my bad... explanation... Tomorrow I will also contact MMB to ask for an english instruction.

:-(

Regards,

Olli

That's a lot clearer now ! Thanks vey much :-D

To sum up...

I need a battery

if it works on a PX, it can also work on a lambretta indian 12v kit (because the stator is similar to the PX)

i=3:1 seems strange...I tough a two stroke vespa was i=1:1 negative :-(

So where the white/negative wave is connected to ?

Olli, You're thinking of buying one maybe ?

Do someone have some report on using one on a vespa or lambretta ?

First things first:

I am not using one of those rev counters.

Anyway I crammed one of their digital speedos into my Vespa. The specs are more or less the same though.

Actually you don´t need a battery. At least on a Vespa. You can get the 12 VDC from the horn. Just connect the orange and the red cable, connect mass and it should be working a breeze. I don´t have a clue though if you can get 12 VDC anywhere on Lambretta.

On the speedo you only need a battery to prevent memoryloss after turning off the scooter. At least thats what the MMB-technician told me... Therefore I don´t really see a reason why you should be needing one.

So should be quite easy to connect...

Cheers

Alloha!

Minutes ago I had a phone call with Nova MMB, they are really helpfull!

Today or at the beginning of next week they will send me an english assembling instruction for you.

To you questions:

As I wrote you need a battery or rectifier voltage.

This mean you don't need a battery if you have rectifier voltage.

The rev counter has a Zener Diode which eliminate overvoltage.

But as I was also told, they have never heared about problems using it direct at the alternator!! :-D

For vespa you have to switch the DIP Schalter to i= 3:1, because the signal for the revcounter was taken from the alternator. This one is a 3 pole unit!

He was no sure but he told me that Vespa uses a positiv wave --> green wire.

The green wire has to be connected to the alternator, the rev counter can work with 5V TTL to 500 Volt and will eliminate destructiv peaks.

Olli

That's a very good news, thanks Olli !

So I'll wait for the english translation, many thanks.

Apart from SIP (not in stock) and Rollershop Express who sell the Revcounter ?

Hi!

From what I know s.i.p. gets this revcounter from scooter&service in Hamburg (a shop that doesn't do shipping).

the guy who runs that shop has got one on his sprint. so maybe you just should ask him.
